My newest feature is all about community gardens in Portland, OR that cater mostly to immigrants and refugees. Though the organization that runs these gardens has a diverse group of gardeners, the majority are refugees from Bhutan. I focused on the stories from the Bhutanese gardeners because I wanted to give a better sense of their stories and history as a community. But this article could have easily been written about many other groups using many other gardens all across the country. Thanks to Serious Eats for publishing it and thank you for reading. (I did the photography for the article too!)
